USNC-UN Women Call-In Week, October 11-14

Join USNC-UN Women this fall in advocating for women and girls around the world! On October 14th, from 12-2p, we will be calling our elected officials to ask for greater US governmental funding for UN Women’s proven programs of advancing political and economic equality and ending violence against women.

Say NO to Sexual Violence in Conflict

During conflict, women are often the ones who suffer the most and are targets of systematic sexual violence. Yet, fewer than 10 percent of the people who negotiate peace deals are women. Say NO is participating in the Global Open Day for Women and Peace. You can play a role in making women count for peace. Sign the Say NO petition today!
Urge your Senators and Representatives to support the International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA)

The I-VAWA bill would support:

  • preventive efforts such as economic and education opportunity programs for women,
  • intervention services such as healthcare for HIV-infected victims of rape,
  • training of military for better protection of women from violence,
  • support to local NGOs who are already fighting violence against women.
